As far back as I can remember, I wanted to teach college English. While I adored being in the classroom and truly helping adults prepare for the infamous “real world” out there, I was also very frustrated and unfulfilled. I discovered that my real passion wasn’t for simply “educating” people as much as it was simply HELPING them, especially one-on- one. I thought that becoming a volunteer would satisfy this desire in me, so I volunteered in many capacities, but by far my most rewarding and fulfilling service was volunteering in, of all places, hospice.
Although hospice wouldn’t be the best choice for everyone, I thrived in this position as I felt I made a huge and positive impact for individuals at very important times in their lives. I was also able to serve each patient’s family members by meeting with them one on one, listening without interrupting and without judgment, and asking deep, and thought-provoking questions that made them think and see their situation more clearly.
Because I am a firm believer in living one’s life to the fullest, I decided to take my own advice and do what came naturally and enthusiastically to me. So, in 2008, I retired from my teaching career and became a full-time life coach. This has been, beyond my wildest dreams, the most gratifying venture in my professional life. I truly believe that every single person has the potential for living the life they want. Sometimes it’s just hard finding the path to that place. This is what I want to help YOU with—finding the right steps, to the right place, with the confidence you need, to feel you are truly living your very best life!
